Teeth Whitening
Many factors may cause yellowing or staining of teeth. Calculus (hardened plaque), Nicotine and Medication are among these factors. Mint Dental offers Professional At-Home and In-Office Teeth Whitening treatments.
Before you Brighten your smile…
– Schedule an appointment for a Dental Cleaning. Plaque and calculus interfere with teeth whitening
– Remember that the results of teeth whitening will be different for each individual. Before and after pictures will be taken to show the change in shade
– Make sure you have good oral hygiene habits to keep your pearly whites shining!
Cleanings & Gum disease
What is Gum Disease?
Gum disease is also known as Periodontal disease. It is caused by Dental plaque and calculus that inflame the gums and other tissues which support the teeth. If not treated, teeth may become loose and eventually fall out.
You may have Gum disease if:
– There is bleeding while brushing your teeth
– Your gums are receding and your teeth seem longer
– You have loose teeth or teeth that have moved
Treating Gum disease
Brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing regularly is the best way to prevent Gum disease. If you do not brush the plaque away, it hardens and forms calculus. Even with regular brushing, calculus may still accumulate. We recommend visiting the Dentist at least once per year for a comprehensive check-up and Dental cleaning.
Dental Fillings
Dental fillings or White Fillings are used to treat one of the MOST common diseases, TOOTH DECAY (Cavities).
How do Cavities form?
Dental plaque forms on your teeth throughout the day. When you eat and drink, the bacteria use the sugars/carbohydrates in the food and liquids and produce acids. This acid breaks down your teeth.
If you have small cavities, you usually feel NO PAIN. So you may not know they are even there. When cavities are not filled, they become larger and weaken your tooth. The infection may spread to the nerves deep inside your teeth, causing severe pain.
Call us for a check-up to catch those cavities early.
Oral Surgery & Wisdom Teeth
Sometimes, cavities can become so large that filling them may not be possible. Your teeth might even fracture while playing sports. In these cases, those teeth may need to be extracted.
Like almost everyone, you may find the idea of tooth extraction dreadful. Our Doctor at Mint Dental knows this, and he will strive to understand your fears, and explain each step of the procedure.
Painful or Skew Wisdom Teeth?
Your wisdom teeth are the last to erupt. In some cases your wisdom teeth may become impacted (can’t fully erupt). This can cause infection, tooth pain and even ear ache. If you have problematic Wisdom teeth, talk to our Dentist and we will do an in-depth consultation and find the best solution.
Treatment of Missing Teeth
The gaps where you once had teeth can cause problems with chewing, speaking and your smile. These spaces can be filled with False teeth (Dentures) or Dental Crowns and Bridges.
False teeth or Dentures can be designed to fit around your teeth and fill the gaps. You DO NOT have to extract ALL your teeth to get these dentures.
A Dental Crown is when a “cap” is placed over your tooth that was fractured or had a large cavity. It provides the best looking and longest lasting treatment when your teeth are in bad shape.
A Dental Bridge is used to fill a space between teeth. It is held up by the teeth on either side.
Both Crowns and Bridges are fixed and cannot be removed. They are made with either Ceramic, Porcelain or Gold.
Root Canal treatment
Is Root Canal treatment really painful?
The answer is NO.
When patients need Root canal treatment, they usually already have pain. Root canal treatment helps remove that pain.
You may need a Root Canal if:
– A large cavity has infected the nerves deep inside your tooth
– Your tooth has fractured badly due to an accident, exposing the nerves
– A dental abscess has formed around the root of your tooth
